businessmen collaborating at work

This week I came across a note from Cody Sanchez and her team at Contrarian Thinking that resonated deeply.

Here’s the part that stood out:

Most people think they need more money to buy a business.
They don’t.

After working with [thousands of people], the #1 blocker isn’t capital. It’s confidence.

The fear of screwing it up. Buying a lemon. Losing everything.

That fear is actually a feature, not a bug. It means you’re taking this seriously.

But fear without a framework just keeps you stuck.

That line nails something I see all the time.

Fear isn’t the problem.
Unresolved fear is.

Fear shows up when something matters. It sharpens your attention. It tells you the decision is meaningful. But when fear isn’t paired with a process, it doesn’t protect you. It paralyzes you.

The people who move forward aren’t fearless, they’re structured.

Cody’s example goes on to show that clearly. No prior experience. Plenty of fear. But they had a framework. Each step created feedback. Each action filtered reality. The fear didn’t disappear. It got used.

This is exactly how rejection works too.

Rejection is fear’s cousin. Most people avoid it because they think it’s a failure. In reality, it’s information. A fast filter. A way to finalize direction instead of sitting in mental limbo.

A clear “no” closes loops.
Silence keeps them open.
Open loops drain energy.

If you’re feeling hesitant about the next step right now, don’t ask yourself how to get rid of the fear. Ask yourself what framework would let you move with it.

Fear doesn’t mean stop.
It usually means structure is missing.

And structure is something you can build! That’s solvable!
