Before I dive into the concepts I want to share, I’m going to assume some things about you.
This is part of my “believe the best” mentality.
- I assume that greed is not the motivating factor for your business or organization’s existence.
- I assume that you have a genuine desire to help people, to add value to their lives and serve.
- And because I believe those things, I know it takes an increasing amount of cash flow to grow and serve more people over time.
- I assume you add value to the communities you serve and that value outweighs the cost of your products, services or organizations.
I could be wrong, but I choose to believe that about you.
Now that we have that as our foundation, we can talk about revenue.
There are two reasons for the activity in a growing organization:
- It generates revenue.
- It frees someone up to generate revenue.
If the work doesn’t do one of those two things, it’s probably just noise. And in a noisy organization, even great people lose momentum.
That’s why we coach every Executive Assistant at Dream Support to focus on Revenue Generating Activity (RGA). Not just being helpful. Not just staying busy. But being strategic support — the kind that fuels growth.
👇 Here’s how an EA should think:
“If I’m not directly helping generate income,
I need to be freeing someone up who can.”
Let’s break it down.
🔥 Examples of What Direct Revenue Support Can Look Like:
- Researching leads or potential partners
- Scheduling sales calls, donor meetings, or investor check-ins
- Managing the CRM so nothing falls through the cracks
- Creating or sending proposals
- Following up on invoices, payments, or event fees
🔄 Examples of What Indirect Revenue Support Can Look Like:
- Owning the calendar so key players stay in flow
- Preparing agendas and recaps so meetings turn into action
- Organizing files, decks, assets, and presentations that move deals forward
- Handling logistics for a speaking gig, fundraiser, or campaign
- Tracking expenses and hours so the organization isn’t bleeding margin
✅ One Simple Weekly Practice
Whether you’re the EA or the leader, ask this question every Monday:
“What’s the #1 way I can create or protect revenue this week?”
If you don’t know — stop, ask questions and find out.
If you do — go get it.
Because here’s the truth:
🧠 Smart support doesn’t just save time — it funds the future.
