Struggling with the Dword

DELEGATION is difficult for most people, but if you master it, you’ll keep leveling 🆙 and narrowing your focus to your areas of genius.

As a busy leader you’ve got two primary jobs: Vision & Delegation.

Last week my friend Zach clued me in on a somewhat secretive principle that he’s been using for years working with my wife, his (remote) Executive Assistant, and the rest of the Development & Leadership Coaching team.

The 10-80-10 PRINCIPLE. ✨

Basically, it’s a way of thinking about your work that helps you get out of the weeds 🌾 and focus on what you’re uniquely gifted to do.

Here’s how it works:

  • The first 10% is what you need to do to delegate the task.
  • The 80% in the middle is done by, let’s say… your EA.
  • The last 10% is back to you to provide feedback for adjustments.

Overtime, the last 10% should shrink because they learn your preferences, voice or style!

When you use this principle, you’ll find that you can delegate even more tasks and still maintain control over the big picture.

The 🔑 is to focus on your unique 🎁 and delegate the rest. This will help you scale your business and work more efficiently.

Got a principle you’d like to share? I’d love to pass it along.

P.S. My wife, Erica, has worked with Zach for almost a decade and they’ve never met in person! That’s right, these relationships can last a long time and everything we teach our Dream Support EAs is based on the proven methods they’ve developed. So if you don’t have a Remote Executive Assistant yet, I’d love to solve that problem.
