Last week, I shared what I learned while my assistant was on maternity leave. One of those lessons? She could do more, and I should do less! (Or at least be more focused)
I had already integrated my EA into many areas of my business—client follow-ups, EA communication, and even cold outreach. But there was one place I hadn’t fully let go: my email.
She had access, sure. But I wasn’t leveraging her to own parts of my inbox. That changed recently, and the results were undeniable.
When the Same Voice Gets Ignored
I had been emailing and texting several prospective clients for weeks—trying to move conversations along, trying to get a response. And… crickets. 🦗
Then, I tried something new.
I looped my EA into my communication and gave her the green light to follow up on my behalf.
Within days, she got responses from five prospective clients I had been calling, texting and emails for weeks.
Why Did This Work?
Because she disrupted the flow of communication.
When the same name appears in your inbox over and over, it becomes white noise. Even when people intend to respond, they don’t. It’s a mental traffic jam of “I’ll get to that later.”
But when someone new reaches out—especially a different voice, a different tone—it breaks the pattern.
1️⃣ It feels fresh. People take notice.
2️⃣ It signals importance. If I’m paying someone else to follow up, this must matter.
3️⃣ It offers a different touch. Maybe my communication style didn’t resonate, but hers does.
And just like that, conversations that had stalled are moving forward.
Your EA Is an Asset—Let Them Work for You
If you’re still holding onto your inbox and handling every prospect or client interaction yourself, ask yourself: Why?
Could your EA help move things along faster? Could their presence add weight to your communication? Could they disrupt the flow in a way that gets results?
Leaders respond to leadership. And sometimes, leadership looks like trusting someone else to carry the conversation forward.
